Using the Accounts List

The Accounts List shows all the accounts used to keep track of what you owe, own, spend, and receive. The Accounts List is commonly referred to as the chart of accounts. WorkingPoint provides you a predefined set of accounts; if you are on the Premium account plan, you can add, edit, or delete accounts.

Use the Accounts List to:

  • View the activity in an account
  • See the balances in all the accounts
  • Access Bookkeeping links
  • And perform other activities listed below

 

Add an account*

Click the New Account button to display a list of account types. Click an account type to add a new account.

Change the list view

To change the accounts you want to view, click Active Accounts to show only active accounts or click All Accounts to show both active and inactive accounts.

Delete an account*

To delete an account, point to the left of the account name and click the Trashcan

You can’t delete the account because it is protected or has transactions. But, you can make the account inactive. More

Edit an account*

To edit an account, point to the left of the account name and click Edit

Make the changes and click Save Changes.

Exporting the list

To export your Accounts List, filter and sort the list to view the accounts you want to export and then click the csv link at the top of the list (next to the printer icon).

Sort the list

To sort the list, click the heading you want to sort by: 

You can sort your accounts alphabetically by name or sort your accounts to group them by type. This is known as the Balance Sheet Order. WorkingPoint groups the accounts by type (Assets, Liabilities, and Equity) as they appear in the Balance Sheet in order of liquidity (how quickly they can be turned into cash).

The direction of the orange arrows indicates if the sort is ascending or descending . The arrow pointing up means the entries are sorted in ascending order: (A to Z) for words, lowest to highest order for numbers, and earliest to latest for dates. The arrow pointing down means the entries are sorted in descending order: (Z to A) for words, highest to lowest order for numbers, and latest to earliest for dates.

Click the sort direction arrow to reverse the sort.  

Print the Accounts List

To print the list, click the printer icon:    

View & update your financial institution account balances*

If you have connected your financial institution accounts to WorkingPoint, you can view and update these balances from the Accounts List.

To view your balances, check out the Financial Institution Account Balances list in the right-hand sidebar or hover over the icon next to the bank or credit card account name.

To update your balances, click Update in the Financial Institution Account Balances list or hover over the icon next to the bank or credit card account name and click Update.
